Many Ipswich Town fans have taken to Facebook to discuss whether they would welcome the club making a move to appoint Chris Hughton as their manager.

The 61-year-old has been without a job since parting ways with Brighton & Hove Albion last summer following a fruitful five-year stint at the Amex Stadium.

The Tractor Boys, who handed over the reins at Portman Road to Paul Lambert in 2018, have experienced a mixed season in the third-tier under the guidance of the Scotsman.

Despite making a barnstorming start to the 2019/20 campaign, Ipswich's recent form in League One has been far from convincing.

Having suffered a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Rotherham United last Tuesday, the Tractor Boys then slumped to a 4-1 loss at home to Peterborough United on Saturday.

Currently fourth in the League One standings, Ipswich will have to pick up their performance levels over the coming months if they are to secure an immediate return to the Championship.

After a member of the Ipswich Fans Facebook Forum group brought up the fact that Hughton was still out of work, many Tractor Boys supporters offered their thoughts on whether the club should draft him in on the social media platform.

Here are some of the best responses from the club's fans...

Steve Cobbin: "Go get him."

Nicky Martin: "My first thought was that lot [Norwich City, who Hughton has previously managed] up the road.

"No thanks."

Josh Birkhead: "He's looking for work, not a circus."

Kee-Wah Cheungipswicz: "For what it's worth, I think that Hughton would go to a League One club as long as the set up was right, but I am not sure it is."

Mark Dowling: "I'd go for him now but more realistically I'd like Chambers and Skuse to take over until the end of the season.

Rob Ashfield: "More chance of us beating a top six team than getting him."

Neil Ferguson: "He wouldn't come here under Marcus Evans."

Andre Gray: "We are playing really badly and look where we still are.

"Lambert will get it right, just takes time."
