German giants submit bid for 24-year-old Aston Villa man

Aston Villa striker Jordan Ayew is the subject of an £8m bid from German giants Hamburg, reports the Daily Mail.

24-year-old Ayew was one of a few players to emerge from last season with an ounce of credibility left, after a few impressive performances demonstrated his talent.

The fee would represent Villa breaking even on the fee they paid for him just over a year ago when Tim Sherwood signed the Ghana international. However, it is believed new owner Tony Xia would like Ayew to remain at Villa Park.

Ayew scored 7 goals last term and has started pre-season in good form too. His brother Andre currently plays for Swansea, so this may well be a factor in the younger of the two brothers remaining in England.

With 37 caps for his country, Ayew would certainly be of value for new manager Roberto Di Matteo in the Championship, and many would expect him to be able to score the goals to fire Villa back to the Premier League.

He joined the Villains from Lorient only last year, where his form had caught the eye of numerous clubs around Europe before he eventually decided on the move to England with Villa.

Aston Villa fans, what do you think to this news? Would £8m be a good deal? Would you rather Ayew stay? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
