Barnsley manager Gerhard Struber has delivered a fitness update on recently sidelined duo Sami Radlinger and Callum Styles ahead of their crunch clash with Cardiff City at the weekend.

The Tykes have seen their hopes of pushing for survival in recent weeks take a serious blow after their 2-0 defeat to Reading last weekend, seeing them now sit five points adrift of safety with just 10 games to go.

Gerhard Struber has come in and made a fair few changes to the lineup with a number of players now playing either in more or less capacity or in different roles.

One of those was goalkeeper and fellow countryman Sami Radlinger who came in to replace Brad Collins and did a solid job up until illness has struck and stopped him from playing since the 2-1 defeat to Charlton Athletic at the start of February.

Meanwhile, Callum Styles has been impressive in cameos this season in midfield, making eight league appearances this season with the last coming in the 1-0 defeat to Birmingham City.

He has missed the last four games in which Barnsley have recorded three vital wins to bring themselves back into the survival picture.

Speaking ahead of Barnsley’s home clash with Cardiff City at the weekend, Gerhard Struber delivered this update on the pair, as quoted by the Yorkshire Post's Leon Wobschall:

The Verdict:

It’s a boost for both of these players to be back to add depth to Gerhard Struber’s selection process for the final stretch of games.

It might seem harsh but it wouldn’t be surprising to see either of these two return to the starting lineup on their return.

Even though Radlinger was the first choice before his injury, Collins has come in and done very well in goal so it would be unfair on him.

Along with this, Styles had been used sparingly anyway so the current midfielders should retain their place, even with his impressive cameos.
