Luton's George Moncur has stated that it was 'lovely' to hear the supporters singing his name when he came on for the side against Wigan.

The midfielder hadn't played much football for the Hatters this season but when he came on he provided a moment that may well spark an opportunity for himself in the coming weeks.

Moncur managed to fire the winner past the Latics in the last minute to ensure that Luton were able to snatch an all important three points at Kenilworth Road.

It was a vital victory for this Luton side, and despite the loss to Stoke on Tuesday night, they'll feel that at home they can give any side in the division a hard fought game.

Speaking to Dunstable Today, Moncur said:“It’s nice to know that people want to watch you play.

“It’s been a long time since I’ve played here, so it was lovely to hear them signing my name.

“It’s what every footballers wants, it’s better than getting slated.

“So it’s really nice and pleasing that people want to watch you and see you play.”

The Verdict

He's a very talented player Moncur and he's clearly liked by the supporters around him so there's no reason why he shouldn't be playing more in the coming weeks.

Yes, the Championship is physical but sometimes Luton are missing the type of player that can play that eye of a needle pass through a defence and be a moment of magic that can separate the teams.

Moncur could be a player that can offer them that, and perhaps Graeme Jones should look to him in upcoming weeks and start taking the game to the opposition.
