George Hirst helped inspire Portsmouth to a second-half turnaround against Wigan on Tuesday night as they came from two goals down to win 3-2.

The men from Fratton Park do not have much to play for this season now with them unable to finish in the play-offs and that was rather clear during the first-half of their game with the Latics.

Indeed, Wigan were two to the good and cruising but a different Pompey animal came out in the second-half, and they'd eventually manage to turn things around to win the game 3-2.

George Hirst was able to lead the charge, too, with him scoring two goals during the game and, earlier on today, he sent this message out on Twitter:

The Verdict

It really was quite the turn around for Pompey and their fans will be pleased to see that they're going to be fighting for the shirt and for results right up until the final game of the campaign, even if it doesn't really matter this season now.

It's all about setting the right tone for next season now, and the men from Hampshire will be eager to finish on a high note this season before moving into the new campaign with renewed hopes of a play-off challenge.
