Sheffield United kept the pressure on their promotion rivals with a hard-fought 2-0 win over Brentford at Bramall Lane on Tuesday evening.

The Blades took the lead midway through the first-half, with Oliver Norwood firing home from the penalty spot after George Baldock was adjudged to have fouled by Yoann Barbet.

But Chris Wilder's side were reduced to ten men shortly before the interval, with Gary Madine being dismissed for a poor challenge on Ezri Konsa.

Despite pressure from the visitors in the second-half, Sheffield United doubled their lead with just six minutes remaining as David McGoldrick headed home to seal a vital three points.

George Baldock took to Instagram following the win, and was full of praise for his Sheffield United team-mates.

The full-back has certainly played his part in the Blades' promotion push this season and they are certainly going to put up a worthy fight as they challenge for an automatic promotion place.

Chris Wilder's men are next in action when they take on Leeds United in a crucial six-pointer between the two Championship heavyweights.

A win for either side would put them in an extremely strong position heading towards the end of the season as they target a return to the Premier League after a lengthy absence.

The Verdict:

He's been a crucial player for the Blades this season.

Baldock is one of the underrated players in this Sheffield United team but has certainly played a vital role in their promotion bid this year.

If the Blades can get a positive result against Leeds this weekend, then I see no reason as to why they won't win promotion via the automatic promotion places this season.
