Charlton Athletic beat high-flying Nottingham Forest 1-0 at the City Ground last night and plenty of Addicks fans have been singing the praises of captain and match-winner Lyle Taylor.

Lee Bowyer's side headed into the game on the back of a 3-1 defeat from Stoke City but appeared high in confidence in the opening stages and got their reward just after the 20-minute mark.

Naby Sarr pinched the ball on the half-way line and drove forward before swinging in a curling cross to the back post for Taylor to volley in.

There were some nervy moments for the Addicks, particularly when Sarr's miss-hit clearance forced Dillon Phillips to tip the ball onto his own bar, but they held out for a vital three points.

The result leaves Charlton 19th in the Championship, six points clear of the drop zone, in a season that has been hampered by injuries–particularly that of Taylor.

The striker fired them to League One promotion in the 2018/19 campaign but has appeared just 17 times in the league for the Addicks this season.

He showed his worth once again last night, grabbing his ninth league goal this term, and you feel he is set to play a key role in their run-in.

Unsurprisingly, Taylor is a popular figure amongst fans of the South London club, with many taking to Twitter last night to sing his praises.
