A significant win against Swansea last time out can't hide the fact that Stoke City have endured a nightmare start to the season as they remain bottom of the Championship.

As Potters fans will tell you, this is extending years of disappointment that has seen the team fall from a decent Premier League side to fighting to avoid the drop to League One.

Relegation to the Championship was meant to signal a new era for Stoke and even though Gary Rowett struggled despite strong financial backing, many felt the squad could still kick-on under a different voice.

That was when the club turned to Jones.

He had built a fantastic reputation as one of the best coaches in the Football League for the work he had done with Luton, which saw them win promotion to the third-tier and his good work in the first part of the season gave the Hatters the platform to go on and win another promotion.

Therefore, it was no surprise to see that Stoke fans were delighted at Jones' appointment, which we checked for our FLW Rewind...

Of course, since then everything seems to have gone wrong for the 46-year-old who is under extreme pressure to keep his job after one win in 11 this season.

Unfortunately for Jones, he spent his first few months in charge talking about how he was planning for the current campaign when results were suffering then too.

For many reasons, he hasn't been able to build the high energy, dynamic team he had at Kenilworth Road at Stoke.

In fairness to the boss, you wouldn't say it's through a lack of effort or trying. He has been refreshingly honest when speaking to the press in recent weeks and that has probably helped him as fans can appreciate where he is coming from.

However, as everyone knows, it's a results business and the Stoke fans optimism at his appointment was misguided when you look back in hindsight.
