Kemar Roofe's departure to Anderlecht from Leeds United was finally confirmed yesterday, with the former Oxford man sealing a three-year deal at the Belgian club.

The departure of of the 26-year-old now leaves Marcelo Bielsa's side with one senior striker in the form of Patrick Bamford, and you get the impression a new striker will be high on Victor Orta's agenda ahead of Thursday's 5pm deadline.

Football League World Chief Editor Sam Rourke exclusively caught up with former Whites player Andy Couzens to get his views on the Roofe departure, and who Leeds should look to replace him with.

Speaking to Rourke, Couzens said: "How I look at it as a Leeds fan and a former Leeds player is if you don't want to be part of the project at Elland Road, it makes sense to let him go, who are we to say what he can and can't do, it's down to the player at the end of the day.

"He might be getting more money out there, he might be playing Champions League football out there but if i'm worried he may struggle to come back to England from Anderlecht and play Premier League football.

"Leeds have now got to bring somebody in, they'll be working behind the scenes to bring in a proven striker, we cannot go into the season with just one senior striker in Bamford.

As for a replacement for Roofe, Couzens admits there is one striker in the Premier League who would be an ideal fit at Elland Road, saying to Rourke: "Gayle's been mentioned, Gayle would be absolutely perfect, I know Ryan Kent from Liverpool has been mentioned, he'd be a fantastic signing as he proved at Rangers last season just how good he can be, there has been a number of names talked about for Roofe's replacement.

"Victor Orta is working his socks off behind the scenes, it's hard as we have got to stay within FFP regulations and reading between the lines we are needing to do that.
