Luton Town Chief Executive Officer Gary Sweet spoke in a council meeting yesterday about Power Court and addressed little modifications to the original plans to the club’s proposed new stadium.
Power Court was given the green light in January 2019, and whilst Covid-19 has disrupted the initial timescale, it appears that the club are hopeful of getting back on track.
During last night’s meeting, Sweet made a comment that Luton fans were excited to hear come from their CEO’s mouth.
Quiz: Do you know what club these 28 ex-Luton Town players are playing at now?
Sweet spoke about the club’s ambitious targets and said: ”Luton Town are staring the top division in world football in the face and could be as early as next season.”
The Hatters currently sit in fifth place in the Championship table and have enjoyed a tremendous rise from the depths of the non-league.
Luton have been very ambitious since returning to the Football League, and thus far, the club have delivered on their targets.
Seven years ago, The Hatters were in the Conference Premier, and now they are within the Championship’s top-six.
There is still a long way to go this season, but grabbing a place in the play-offs is well within the realms of possibility.
The ultimate objective for Luton this season is continuing their progression, and if they are able to compete in and around the top-six, then that will be classed as another excellent campaign.
Power Court is another exciting prospect for Luton fans. Kenilworth Road has served as an atmospheric home for The Hatters over the years, but with their Premier League ambitions in mind, the move is certainly necessary.
