Darren Bent is set to leave Derby County this summer, as Gary Rowett begins to alter his squad ahead of an important Sky Bet Championship season, reports the Mirror.

Rowett is willing to let Bent, who earns a reported £25,000-a-week with the Rams, leave the club this summer, which would end the 33-year old’s two-and-a-half year association with Derby.

Derby recently extended Bent’s contract until the end of the 2017/18 campaign, but are still understood to be keen to offload the striker during the summer.

Rowett is looking to make significant changes to his squad this summer, as he plans to reenergise Derby and help them compete for promotion in the Sky Bet Championship - with Nick Blackman and Abdul Camara also rumoured to be heading for the exit door.

The Rams struggled to a ninth placed finish in the Championship last season, racing through three different managers over the campaign.

Nigel Pearson and Steve McClaren both struggled to inspire Derby to challenge for the play-offs during their spells in-charge, and Rowett was appointed in March, overseeing the final nine fixtures of the Championship season.
