Gary Rowett has confirmed he is interested in bringing Andre Wisdom to Derby County, but insists the asking price is too high, reports the Derby Telegraph.
With just one fixture of the Sky Bet Championship season remaining, and Derby set for a mid-table finish, Rowett is already looking ahead to a crucial summer for the club.
Derby, as always, will be expected to be active in the transfer window and have been linked with a move for Liverpool’s Wisdom- who is valued at £4m.
Wisdom spent the 2013/14 season at the Pride Park Stadium, helping the Rams reach the Play-Off final, which they lost 1-0 to Queens Park Rangers.
Rowett admitted a player of Wisdom’s ability interests the Rams, but questioned his valuation, he said: “He is athletic, strong and has potential to play in the Premier League – so he is the type of player we are interested in.
“I am sure it is a potential opportunity to try and stoke up the value a little bit.
“Certainly the values that they were talking would be more than we would be looking at, at the moment.”
The 23-year old defender has found opportunities limited during his time with Liverpool, and has spent the 2016/17 campaign away from Anfield, playing for Austrian outfit Red Bull Salzburg, where he has made 19 appearances across all competitions.
