Speaking to the Derby Telegraph, Gary Rowett has confirmed he is expecting interest in his Derby County squad this summer, as he predicts a number of his players may want a “different opportunity” next season.

Rowett was appointed at the Pride Park Stadium in March, and having overseen a successful end to the Sky Bet Championship season, the 43-year old is now preparing for his first transfer window as the Rams’ manager.

After guiding the Rams to ninth, way short of the club’s expectations, Rowett will be expected to face a busy summer, shaping a Derby squad capable of challenging for promotion in the Championship.

Rowett has already added some promotion experience to Derby’s defence, signing Curtis Davies from Hull City, and other arrivals will be expected in the coming months.

It is likely that departures from the Pride Park Stadium will be next, and despite little interest in Derby’s players so far, Rowett is expecting that to change, he said: “Not a fantastic amount (of interest) yet, but I know there is an awful lot of interest in some of the players we have.

"I think we have some fantastic players that will suit a lot of clubs.

"I have said before, I think we will have a couple of players in our ranks that will see themselves as wanting a different type of opportunity, which is something we will look at and work out the best solution for everybody - the club first and foremost, but everybody.

"I expect that to gain some traction as the weeks go by."

There have been a number of reports linking players away from the Pride Park Stadium, Darren Bent, Nick Blackman and Abdoul Camara have all been rumoured to be on their way out of Derby this summer, whilst there are sensational claims that Tom Ince could also be sold by Rowett.
