Derby County suffered an unexpected setback at the weekend as they lost at home to Reading in the Championship.

The men from Pride Park had been flying up until that point in recent games with wins over Leeds and Norwich still fresh in the mind.

They do, however, seem to have results in them where they lose games they really shouldn't be losing and they'll need to sort that out before it costs them too dearly in the race for the top six.

Something else they'll need to sort out in due course, though, is getting Sam Winnall in on a permanent deal with him impressing so far during his loan spell from Sheffield Wednesday.

It came as a bit of a surprise to see two play-off chasing clubs deal with one another for key players in the summer but that is what the Rams and the Owls did as Winnall and Jacob Butterfield switched sides.

The Rams, though, have had the better of the deal so far and with him scoring at a rate of every 88 minutes so far this season, there's a great argument to suggest making it permanent is a good idea.

Certainly, Derby have good attacking options even without Winnall, but you'd argue in terms of perhaps the most mobile, out-and-out striking options they could call on, he trumps them all.

He's certainly done enough so far to be in Rowett's transfer plans and if he keeps it up we think it has to be a forgone conclusion.
