Speaking at Derby County’s fans forum, Gary Rowett has confirmed he is confident of mounting a promotion challenge in the Sky Bet Championship next season, reports the club’s official Twitter account.

Rowett was appointed at the Pride Park Stadium back in March, with the Rams’ play-off challenge all but over and a mid-table finish on the cards.

Since his arrival at Derby, Rowett has overseen nine Championship fixtures, with the Rams losing on just two occasions under the 43-year old’s stewardship.

Derby finished the season in ninth and Rowett is confident that he can bring players to the club and mould a squad that can compete higher up the table next season.

In a recent interview with the club’s official website, Rowett admitted there would be changes in personnel at Derby, with the belief that the squad needs freshening up ahead of next season.
