With the realisation that Bristol City could suffer relegation to the third-tier, £2.98 million-rated attacking midfielder Lee Tomlin will want to prolong his career in the Championship and should be a target for new Derby County manager Gary Rowett.

The 28-year-old has endured a difficult spell at Ashton Gate since his permanent arrival last summer, and he was probably not expecting a scrap for survival towards the end of this campaign.

However, his contribution to the Robins shouldn't go unnoticed and he'll be surely be pushing for a move away from Bristol in the transfer window, with Derby County being a perfect potential destination for the man.

Tomlin has provided six goals and the same number of assists for the Robins this season - perhaps it's the creativity that has been the problem for the Rams' struggles in front of the net throughout the year.

His price tag is realistic and would be an ideal candidate to lead the midfield next campaign, forming a strong relationship on and off the field with promising youngster Will Hughes..

He was deemed surplus to requirements at AFC Bournemouth and a loan stint at Bristol City was turned permanent following his impressive performances in the tail end of last season.

I'm sure Rowett will be accumulating a transfer target list as we head into the final few weeks of the term and Tomlin has to be on it.

He could be key to the goals they score next year after a lack of them in the last few months.
