Millwall boss Gary Rowett is expecting a "difficult" game against Derby County on Saturday - but has urged his players to go out and repeat their performance against Nottingham Forest.

The Lions enhanced their play-off hopes with a sensational 3-0 victory at the City Ground on Friday night to move within two points of the top-six - and remain just a couple of points adrift after a favourable set of Championship results at the weekend.

And Rowett, whose Millwall side have struggled at home in recent weeks, collecting just three points from their previous four matches at The Den, is looking for more of the same against his former side, who've put themselves into top-six contention after two straight victories.

Speaking to the South London Press, Rowett said: "It's about us doing the same thing. We've not won as many games at home as we’d like recently at home although we’ve not lost many. It’s going to be a difficult game.

"It’s the exact same challenge [as Forest], Derby have got a lot of quality and we’ve got to go and press, harry and run with that intensity that we can. We’re not going to outplay these types of teams, we’ve got to be a little smarter how we do it.

"But I’ll flip it on its head. Derby have got to come to Millwall and try and take something out of the game. Which has been quite difficult – we’ve lost five games out of 24 and I’d argue a couple of those we shouldn’t have lost."

The Verdict

With games coming thick and fast at this stage of the campaign, Saturday is another huge afternoon for both sides at The Den.

Especially with two sides directly above Millwall in the play-off race in Preston North End and Bristol City facing tricky-looking trips to Luton Town and Blackburn Rovers, meaning a first home victory for the Lions since 18 January and some favours elsewhere could see Rowett's men end the weekend above the dotted-line.
