Stoke City boss Gary Rowett has revealed that left-sided pair Erik Pieters and James McClean are both doubts for tomorrow's game with Ipswich Town.

The duo have both featured regularly this season for the Potters so it would be a blow to Rowett if they couldn't make it.

However, that may be the case, with the former Derby manager providing an injury update on the players when speaking to the clubs media.

"Erik felt his hamstring a little bit last weekend which meant he had to withdraw of course, and he hasn't trained this week.

"Macca (James McClean) has reported back this morning with an infection in his foot too, so we are going to have to look at him between now and the game."

Stoke will already be without Nigerian midfielder Peter Etebo who continues to sit out following his red card against Derby County last week.

Despite boasting a seven-game unbeaten run, Rowett's men have been dropping too many points with five of those games draws.

But, they will expect to get back to winning ways against the Tractor Boys tomorrow who are seven points adrift at the bottom and are now managed by former Stoke boss Paul Lambert.

The Verdict

It's never ideal to be without players that would probably feature, but Stoke do have a very big squad.

The loss of Pieters is probably more damaging as he is the only natural left-back available but others can fill in.

Ultimately, no matter who is on the pitch it's a game that Stoke should win and have to win after a poor draw with Reading last time out.
