Millwall manager Gary Rowett has spoken out over the club's apparent interest in acquiring the services of Wigan Athletic striker Kieffer Moore this summer.

As per the South London Press, The Lions are said to have had a bid accepted for the towering frontman in recent days, with the South Bermondsey based outfit and Queens Park Rangers seemingly leading the chase for the former Rotherham United man's services this summer.

Speaking to the South London Press after his side's 4-1 thumping of Huddersfield Town at the New Den, Rowett was quick to provide a somewhat vague response to the rumours linking his side with the 27-year-old target man:

“There’s a lot of players that we are interested in.

"We need more goals in the group, not just in the team but in the group, that’s obviously an area we are focusing on.

“Like any deal we keep working hard to see where any of them go.”

Have these 9 things happened to Millwall this season?

Moore was on the score sheet again for the Latics last night in their hard fought draw against play-off chasing Fulham, however the Welsh born forward's efforts were ultimately in vain as Paul Cook's side succumbed to relegation following the EFL's decision to impose a 12-point deduction following the club's administration.

Having only joined the club in August 2019, Moore still has two years remaining on his current contract at the DW Stadium, with the striker having racked up an impressive 10 league goals for the Latics this term.

The Verdict

It is no surprise that Rowett is seeking to add some much needed firepower to his side this summer, with the Lions having been found to be lacking an adequate alternative for top scoring duo Matt Smith and Tom Bradshaw this term.

The former Derby County boss would be acquiring a striker who has gone onto to prove his potency in front of goal at Championship level this season for a Wigan side which has sometimes lacked a real cutting edge in the final third.

Given his price tag, age and experience, Millwall could really do a lot worse than making a move for the Latics hitman.
