Gary Rowett has stated that he has been very impressed with Millwall’s fast starts in the two home games that he has managed so far.
Millwall had a fantastic victory on Saturday as they beat Charlton 2-1, which meant that they extended their 23 year unbeaten run against the Addicks.
The Lions had yet another quick start at the Den and Shaun Hutchinson put them ahead after just six minutes of the fixture. Jonathan Leko equalised, but Matt Smith was able to head home in added time to confirm the three points for Millwall.
This was Rowett’s second victory as Lions boss and he’s expressed how happy he is with the way that his side have been starting games at the Den since he’s taken over as manager.
Speaking to News Shopper, Rowett said: “It’s always part of every plan to start well on the front foot and we have had a habit of doing that really well in the two home games.
“They have been electric starts from the team. We have moved the ball really, really well.”
Will Rowett be successful at Millwall?
Rowett has carried on this fantastic Millwall home record that they seem to have year on year, but it’s so vital that the Lions can pick up some more points away from home. The Den is a fortress and he’s trying to keep it like that, and it’s working especially with the fast starts.
Millwall have a lot of potential to be a top half side in this division and constantly have the endeavour and passion to give any side a tough game.
The Lions have to make sure that they keep at it, and keep starting games with this continuous pace. If they can then they’re only going to carry on winning football matches.
