Stoke City manager Gary Rowett has said that he will not be prioritising any other games ahead of their clash with Nottingham Forest in the League Cup tomorrow night.

The pre-season favourites to finish at the top of the Championship table have experienced a dreadful start to the season but Rowett insists his attention will not be drawn from tomorrow's match.

"Every game is important and we won't be prioritising one over any other," Rowett told his pre-match press conference.

"It is a three-game week again though, and maybe we lost energy on Saturday because of the continuity we went with.

"This is a one-off game and a nice distraction from the league."

After beating Swansea City in midweek it looked as though things might start looking up for Potters, but the defeat to Blackburn and the nature of it has sent morale crashing back down again.

Problems at the back led to Tony Mowbray's side leading 2-0 at the break and the home side booed off.

Just one minute into the second-half it was 3-0, and although goals from Saido Berahino and Tom Ince clawed them back into it, they couldn't rescue the situation.

The Potters have won just twice all season in the Championship, so will be keen to build some momentum against Forest tomorrow night.

The Verdict

He has come under a lot of pressure so far this season, and rightly so, but Rowett is absolutely correct here.

Throwing away any focus on the League Cup to concentrate on the Championship would be a big admission of panic with regards to their increasingly worsening promotion chances.

It would do nobody any good at all.
