Former Derby County manager Gary Rowett has criticised defender Jayden Bogle's performance against Nottingham Forest on Monday night, after speaking on last night on Sky Sports Football (9:55pm).

The former Rams boss, who has been out of work since his departure from Stoke City in January, was a pundit on Sky Sports for the East Midlands derby on Monday night, as Forest defeated their arch rivals by a goal to nil thanks to Yohan Benalouane's early strike.

There were less than two minutes on the clock when the Tunisian defender put Martin O'Neill's men in front - Bogle's attempted header wasn't cleared properly, and the ball then fell to Benalouane who made no mistake in coverting from a yard out.

Speaking on Sky Sports Football (9:55pm), former Derby boss Rowett was quick to criticise the right-back, after playing a key part in the only goal of the game.

"I think if you look at Jayden Bogle's body position and then secondly his decision to head the ball back into an area that kept the ball alive for Forest to get something out of."

"He's got to really open himself up a little bit earlier and head the ball maybe for a corner or out the other side that gives you that rest bite to defend again."

Bogle was never handed an appearance by Rowett during his tenure at Pride Park, but the 18-year old has flourished under the management of Frank Lampard, featuring 34 times in all competitions this season.

The Verdict

I think Rowett is spot on with his criticism, why Bogle decided to head the ball where he did was beyond me, however it was a silly free-kick to concede in the first place.

For me though, Kelle Roos has got to be coming out to claim the ball, rather than just being rooted to his line, so he could have played a better part in stopping that goal.

In the end, I think Forest deserved the win, and Derby need to bounce back sooner rather than later...
