Gary Rowett has stated that Millwall were 'outstanding' in their 2-1 victory at Bristol City and could have scored even more.

It was a superb victory for the Lions on Tuesday night as they managed to pick up just their 2nd away victory of the season but also keep their six game unbeaten run going.

Alongside this, since Rowett has taken over as manager the side has lost just once in eight games. This is a massive improvement for Millwall and the result on Tuesday leaves them just four points off the play-off places.

Rowett has expressed his delight with the way the team attacked and managed to open up the opposition throughout the game.

Speaking to News at Den, Rowett said: "I thought we were outstanding, against a side like Bristol City with the home record they have and their position in the league table.

"I have to say that in the first half we opened them up countless times and it was a bit like the Forest game where we couldn't believe we were only one up at the time. They had good control of possession at times, but the way we set up meant we didn't mind that."

The Verdict

Millwall were brilliant in their victory over Bristol City on Tuesday night and will be hoping that they can carry on this really impressive run of results in the near future.

Being so close to the play-off places gives the Lions something to really strive for and Rowett seems determined to make them a side that is able to compete for places in the top half of the division.

Millwall travel to Derby on Saturday aiming to pick up another three points and that really would make it a fantastic week as Rowett faces his former club.
