Stoke City manager Gary Rowett has appeared to quash any rumours of goalkeeper Jack Butland signing for Chelsea.

Speaking to the Independent, Rowett said that all it does is 'show the level of players he has at the club' when talking about a potential move for Butland to the former Premier League champions.

Rowett also said he doesn't 'believe any of the rumours' but did acknowledge that it was great that some of his players are being linked with such lucrative moves away from the Potters.

Butland has recently returned to the fold for Stoke after being given extended time off in the summer following his World Cup duty, and Rowett confirmed Butland will indeed play in Stoke's final pre season friendly this weekend.

Butland has long been linked with a move away from the club after becoming one of the most respected and sought after English goalkeepers in the game, and Stoke's relegation last season only added further fuel to a fire already burning bright.

However, thus far there are no concrete bids on the table, and with Stoke under no pressure to sell, keeping Butland will be a massive plus for the Potters as they look to bounce back to the top flight at the first attempt.
