Millwall's Gary Rowett has made it clear that he wants goalkeeper Bartosz Bialkowski to stay put at The Den, after details emerged about his loan agreement.

The 32-year-old Polish stopper is on loan to Millwall from League One side Ipswich Town, but it has been made known in recent weeks that Bialkowski's parent club may have a recall option in place for January.

He featured between the posts for the 18th time for the south London side yesterday evening, as the Lions stretched their unbeaten record at home in the Championship to five games, salvaging a 2-2 draw against Wigan despite going behind twice during the game.

In his post-match interview, Gary Rowett was asked about his goalkeeper following the 2-2 draw, admitting that he was not aware that the Pole could be on his way back to Portman Road in January.

According to London News Online, the Millwall boss said:

“I haven’t heard anything like that at all,” Rowett stated.

“There are certain things in the agreement that I’m aware of. It’s a case of seeing what happens.

It is what it is. We don’t want to lose Bart – he’s a very, very good player. He’s performed very, very well for us. But at the same time we also have to have a plan in case something happens in that sense."

The Verdict

It is alarming that Millwall's boss does not know anything of the possibility of Bialkowski being recalled by his parent club.

If anything, it could mean that the south London side will try to make the move permanent in January, after talks to do so broke down in the summer.
