Manchester United legend, Gary Neville, has claimed that the FA Cup 3rd round defeat to Leeds United in 2010 was his worst performance for the Red Devils outfit.

Jermaine Beckford gave the Whites a famous 0-1 victory at Old Trafford back in 2010, and Neville reminisced about the match on Twitter.

The ex England right-back posted this, when asked about his worst Manchester United performance:

He tweeted: 'Leeds in the cup. Embarrassing' claiming that the defeat was his worst performance during his 20-year stint at the club.

Alongside Neville, players such as Wayne Rooney, Ryan Giggs and Dimitar Berbatov featured in what was a strong-looking United side that took to the pitch against League One, Leeds United.

However, Simon Grayson's team were too good for them on the day and came away from Old Trafford with a historic 3rd round FA Cup victory.

The Verdict

It's quite astonishing for Gary Neville to claim that the match against Leeds United was his worst ever performance.

The rivalry between the two clubs has been strong for many years, but since Leeds' fall from grace, the sides have failed to meet on a regular basis.

That FA Cup tie still goes down as one of the greatest 3rd round shocks of all-time, as Leeds were playing in League One at that point. It was a special day for the travelling fans, and they'll be happy that it is still imprinted on Neville's mind.

The clubs haven't met competitively for just under eight years now, but both will be eagerly anticipating their next encounter against each other.
