Cheltenham Town avoided the drop by the skin of the teeth on their return to the Football League, and will be hoping that the stress of last season is now behind them and they can turn their attentions further up the table.

Manager Gary Johnson will use this summer window to breathe a sigh of relief, before turning his attentions to transforming his squad from relegation candidates to a solid League Two outfit.

Staying up would have been the primary objective for the former Yeovil boss last season and with that achieved, progress can now be made.

Cheltenham struggled across the pitch last season, but a meagre 49 goals in 46 league games only ‘bettered’ by rock bottom Leyton Orient saw the Robins fail to pick up points throughout the season.

A new striker will be key to Johnson’s plans, and the boss may turn to free agency this summer to find his new man up top.

Cardiff City youngster Rhys Healey is set to be a free agent this summer having failed to break into the first team in Wales, and after spending last season on loan with Newport County, may feel a permanent switch to League Two is the next step in his career.

Cheltenham must make a move for Healey, who could become prolific with the Robins should he find a permanent home in Gloucestershire.

Gary Johnson is a fantastic manager with the ability to draw the best from young players, and Healey could learn a lot under the tutelage of the experienced boss.

This would be an excellent move for all involved, and Johnson should move quickly to bring Healey to Whaddon Road.
