Nottingham Forest's caretaker manager Gary Brazil has insisted that Nicklas Bendtner does feature in the club's plans, according to BBC Sport.

The infamous striker penned a two year deal in the summer but has been strongly linked with a premature exit from the City Ground after starting just seven games in the league this season.

Britt Assombalonga has recently returned to goal scoring form and the deadline day arrivals of Zach Clough and Ross McCormack have pushed Bendtner further down the pecking order.

The Denmark international was also not included in the match day squad as Nottingham Forest triumphed over Aston Villa.

17-year-old striker Ben Brereton was preferred and he struck an injury time winner to steal the headlines.

With Apostolos Vellios also on their books, Forest are not short on striker options.

However, after scoring 2 goals in 17 appearances, the 29-year-old is still in Brazil's plans.

Brazil told BBC Sport:

"At the moment he is not getting a game, but there might come a point in the future where we really need him.

I can only pick 18."
