Gary Brazil issues message regarding Nottingham Forest managerial situation

Nottingham Forest interim manager Gary Brazil has claimed that whoever gets the chance to permanently replace Mark Warburton will inherit a “very talented” squad of youngsters.

Speaking to the Nottingham Post following yesterday’s 0-0 draw with Leeds United, Brazil dropped a massive hint that the club won’t waste any time at all in appointing a successor following the sacking of Warburton on New Year’s Eve.

The ex-Rangers manager was dismissed by Forest on the back of two horrendous home showings against Sheffield Wednesday and Sunderland but Brazil managed to get a courageous, gritty display out of his young charges in a sound point at Elland Road.

The temporary Reds boss said: “Whoever comes in in inheriting a really good group of players. A really good group, absolutely.

“This is a very willing, very talented group of young players. They have a great attitude when they go to work on the grass. The squad is in a better place than it was this time last year, definitely. ”

Forest face a mouthwatering FA Cup contest at home to Arsenal next weekend but Brazil claims that he hasn’t been asked by the club to oversee the fixture in his temporary capacity just yet.

He continued: “If you were asked to do the job against Arsenal, of course you would do it but let’s see what is happening in the next 48 hours of so. I genuinely know nothing.”

The Verdict

Gary Brazil oversaw a solid showing in a 0-0 draw at Leeds United and what pleased Forest fans the most was his ability to lead the team towards a clean sheet.

Mark Warburton’s style of play was at times pretty but more often than not frustrating, whilst it also left the Reds vulnerable at the back more often than not.

Brazil is right regarding the squad in that it is pretty useful – at least on paper it is. If the new man can come in and get them organised and enjoying their football once again then the Reds could be on course for a decent second half of the campaign.
