Bradford City manager Gary Bowyer has confirmed that there are no fresh injuries that his side are to be concerned with, as well as Jamie Devitt edging closer to a return.

The Bantams have been no strangers to injury issues this season as they push towards automatic promotion, bouncing back from relegation from League One last season. Gary Bowyer’s side are currently fifth and level on points with third-placed Cheltenham heading into the second half of the season and are looking a strong candidate for finishing in top three.

Having made a bunch of first-team signings in the summer, Bradford have equally struggled with constant injury setbacks to key players, particularly in midfield. One player who has been a victim to these problems is attacking midfielder Jamie Devitt.

Having signed on-loan from League One Blackpool, Devitt was eager to make an instant impact at the Utilita Energy Stadium but was dealt a huge blow when he was ruled out for three months in September as he underwent surgery on a serious knee injury

However, the Irish midfielder is nearing a return under Bowyer. The manager had this to say to the club’s official site on Devitt’s recovery and general injury updates: "We had no setbacks in the Leyton Orient game, which was good.

“Jamie Devitt is back in the building and has been on the grass, this week. The challenge now is to rein him in a bit, because he is determined to atone for the three months he has missed."

How much can you remember from Bradford's 2016/17 season?

The Verdict

Heading into what will be a busy January in terms of both matches and transfer activity, this is a huge boost to Bradford to have Devitt edging very close to a return.

Having recently seen the long-awaited return of Jake Reeves to the lineup, Devitt will definitely be showing a similar attitude for the Bantams, providing positive energy and a spark that they have missed in his absence.
