Nottingham Forest legend, Gary Birtles, believes that the Reds can give Arsenal a good challenge regardless of the side they put out.

Forest will travel to the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday night with over 8400 supporters making the trip to London for the clash.

It's set to be an enthralling cup tie with both sides coming into the game on the back of victories in their respective leagues.

The Reds have looked strong so far this season and have seemed to turn a new corner under manager, Sabri Lamouchi.

Arsenal will be hoping that they progress to the next round and compete far into the competition after the Gunners were defeated by North London rivals, Tottenham Hotspur, last season.

Speaking to the Nottingham Post, Birtles said: "I'd like to see Forest name a strong side at Arsenal, but the thing is, they've got enough players to name two strong starting XIs pretty much.

"They have the numbers in the squad, apart from at right-back with Carl Jenkinson out injured.

"You've got Joao Carvalho back fit and well, plus quite a few players who aren't getting as many games as they like.

"It's a chance to bring players in who haven't been playing and give them a run out. I don't think Arsenal will play a strong team and Forest can give them a good game with bringing players in still."

The Verdict

It could be a really good cup tie on Tuesday and there's set to be a cracking crowd coming into the Emirates to see the two sides meet.

Forest will be backed in numbers, and I'm sure that they'll help support the side and there is big potential for Lamouchi's team to give this Arsenal side a good game.

Even if they make changes, the whole Forest squad seems to be in fine spirits with confidence levels so high, so Arsenal will have to be wary of the strong Championship outfit.
