Sheffield Wednesday manager Garry Monk has stated that he'd want another six or seven players but in reality can't as the transfer window comes to a close.

The Owls were hit with a point deduction which meant that they started the Championship campaign on -12 points and after four games of the season, they are still seven points away from hitting the zero mark.

Wednesday will be looking to get a couple of faces through the door before the end of the window, and it appears they may need to after a number of sloppy performances including conceding late against Queens Park Rangers.

Monk has expressed that he'd hope to get a few more players in before the end of the window but knows that it is a tough ask.

Speaking to the Examiner Live, Monk said: "If I could have another six, seven or eight players that can have that, of course I would say yes, but the reality is that's not going to happen. If it's one or two more, great. If it's none, then it is what it is. I'm determined to set a high standard and want them to deal with what we're asking them to do."

The Verdict

Monk seems to be resigned to the fact that the club isn't going to get many players in over the course of the next few days and it seems as though the Owls may be in for an interesting campaign.

The deduction has hit them massively, but if they can get to the zero mark as soon as possible then they can start building and getting into a safe position in the league table.

Now, in this next few days, there's an opportunity for the club to get some more players into their side and build for what is going to be a long season.
