Sheffield Wednesday were left frustrated at Hillsborough once again, as they fell to a narrow 1-0 defeat against Luton Town on Saturday.

The Owls struggled to gain a foothold in the game against the Hatters, which will certainly frustrate the club's supporters after the opening seven matches of the season.

Sheffield Wednesday remain bottom of the Championship table, and are eight points adrift of safety, and Garry Monk will know that his side need to find a positive run of results at the earliest of opportunities.

Playing at Hillsborough certainly hasn't been an enjoyable experience in terms of results for Sheffield Wednesday, as they remain winless at home this term in the Championship, which comes after they finished the 2019/20 season with the 20th-worse record at home.

Speaking in a post-match press conference (quotes sourced from Yorkshire Live) after their defeat to Luton Town, Garry Monk felt as though their form at Hillsborough needs to be improved, but insisted that his players need confidence to achieve that.

"It is early days but we need to improve the home form. There are new players. I should be judged over the course of last season but we need the margins to go for us.

"We need that belief and confidence to come back here.We have to stick together and keep fighting."

Sheffield Wednesday are set to return to action in midweek, when they take on Rotherham United in a potentially tricky test for the Owls at the New York Stadium.

The Verdict:

He'll surely be feeling the pressure.

It's not been the ideal start to this season for Sheffield Wednesday, and they're not winning the matches against some of the teams that were expected to be fighting for survival in the Championship.

If they continue to struggle at home, then you would imagine that he'll be on borrowed time with Sheffield Wednesday in the coming months.

They can't afford to continue to struggle to break into positive points, as there are teams like Luton that are already pulling further clear of them early into this year's campaign.
