Leeds United play Liverpool in a highly anticipated EFL Cup game tomorrow at Anfield with a semi-final place up for grabs.

Leeds go into the game with bags of confidence as they are in superb form under Garry Monk and have genuine play-off ambitions this season.

Leeds managed some excellent summer business with centre back Pontus Jansson quickly becoming a fans' favourite and one of the best centre backs in the division whilst Kyle Bartley, Eunan O'Kane, Robert Green, Luke Ayling and Pablo Hernandez have all been great signings.

Chris Wood has been wonderful leading the line top scoring with 9 goals and the defence look sturdy with Bartley and Jansson protecting Rob Green in goal.

They sit in 5th with 5 wins in their last 6 games in all competitions and have won their last 3 away games.

Their away record gives them a confidence boost ahead of a tricky trip to Anfield.

They will need that form to be sustained if they are to shock high flying Liverpool who are chasing the Premier League title but an EFL Cup triumph could be Jurgen Klopp's first silverware since taking over at Merseyside.

These 2 key players simply must be started by Monk on Tuesday if they are to stun the Reds.

Pontus Jansson

The rock solid Swedish defender has been a real force for Leeds at the back and he will have to be at his defensive best in order to keep Liverpool quiet.

Jansson - after playing for Swedish champions Malmo then struggled for game time at Serie A side Torino - joined Leeds on loan this summer.

He is an established first team player under Monk having formed an excellent partnership with Kyle Bartley and he is a real fans' favourite at Elland Road.

Leeds have conceded just 20 goals this season with Jansson key to their solidity and the Swedish international will have to be at his best to deny Liverpool's dangerous attack.

Chris Wood

The New Zealand international is Leeds' most important forward as the focal part of the attack.

Wood struggled for form last season but still top scored with 13 goals.

He has plenty of prior Championship experience with Leicester and Millwall and has come up trumps for Leeds so far in this campaign.

Often played up front on his own, he is getting much improved service from playmakers Stuart Dallas, Kemar Roofe, Souleymane Doukara and Pablo Hernandez.

This has helped the target man in scoring 9 goals this season - nearly half of the side's goals.

He will need to be at his best to finish the limited chances Leeds will create.
