Today marks a year to the day that Birmingham City appointed Garry Monk as manager, and he has taken to Twitter to share his thoughts.

Since his appointment the Blues have seen a steady improvement, moving from relegation candidates to top-six pushers.

Taking to Twitter, Monk wrote: “365 days as @BCFC manager, thanks to my staff, players & the fans for helping to make every single day of this challenge enjoyable. #KeepRightOn”.

During his time at the club, he has racked up a win percentage of 35%, impressing most this season as he took the blues from pre-season relegation tips into a top-six battle.

They currently sit in eighth place with 50 points, just four behind Bristol City who currently occupy the final spot in the play-offs.

Monk’s most recent match finished in disappointment, however, when Hull City took all three points from their visit to the KCom, with two Jarod Bowen goals proving the difference.

This weekend sees them welcome arch-rivals Aston Villa to St. Andrew’s in what will prove to be a huge game in the seasons of both clubs.

The verdict

It is almost a real shock to see a manager given a year in a job these days.

But good for Monk. He has done a great job with the Blues so far and continues to strengthen them despite a host of off-field problems.

Hopefully the club continue to stick with him.
