Sheffield Wednesday boss Garry Monk has told his players to pick up from where they left off when they take on Everton tomorrow.

The Owls rescued a point, to remain unbeaten under their new manager, against Fulham in stoppage time on Saturday after a strong second-half display against the promotion favourites.

And, speaking to the Sheffield Star, Monk stressed that the game against the Toffee's is a 'free hit' but that they need to try and perform as they did after the break against Scott Parker's side.

"They are a Premier League team coming to us so it is a free hit in the sense that they will be expected to beat us.

"But if we can show that mentality, character and be on the front foot like we were in the second half against Fulham, we will be able to give them a really good game. We want to try and win games and add to the momentum."

Monk is likely to make changes for the fixture, with Atdhe Nuhiu sure to be one of several fringe players pushing for a start after his equaliser last time out.

The verdict

This is a clever message from Monk as he is removing any pressure from his players and that's the right thing to do.

After Everton's defeat to the Owls big rivals on Saturday, Marco Silva will arrive at Hillsborough knowing he needs a win and the hosts can play on that.

With no expectancy, it's about producing a solid performance and after two good showings in his first two games, Monk will want more of the same tomorrow.
