Birmingham City manager Garry Monk has praised his side's "fantastic" character after his side came from two goals down to deny Ipswich Town their first win of the season on Saturday.

Two second-half goals from Lukasz Jutkiewicz stretched the Blues unbeaten run to six games in the Championship and bumps them up into 16th place.

"Being 2-0 down at half-time and not going to plan, to get that response is crucial," Monk told BBC Radio West Midlands after the game.

"To get those two goals back and have chances to win it in 45 minutes, I'm very happy with that fantastic character and belief."

Jon Nolan gave Paul Hurst's side the lead in the 26th minute when he curled a brilliant shot into the top corner.

Everton loanee Mathew Pennington made it two before the break as he swept his shot into the bottom corner on the 41st minute to put the Tractor Boys in a very strong position.

But it was Birmingham who came out fighting in the second half and Jutkiewicz pulled one back after just one minute, slotting home after good work from Jota set him up.

The striker smashed his second into the roof of the net from close range 20 minutes later to level the scores and ensure a share of the spoils.

The verdict

I think both sides will come away from this match reasonably happy.

Prior to the match, the Monk probably will have wanted to win the match but having been 2-0 in the match I suspect he will be very happy with a hard-earned point.
