Birmingham City manager Garry Monk has offered some good news for the club ahead of their trip to Rotherham United on Monday.

The Blues need just a point to secure the Championship status for another season, and will be confident of going to South Yorkshire to take the result they need.

And manager Garry Monk has provided news of a boost for the club heading into the fixture, revealing that key striker Lukasz Jutkiewicz will indeed be fit for the game at the New York Stadium.

"Yes, just a little bit of cramp. It typifies the work-rate." Monk told the Birmingham Mail.

"Energy levels are important at this stage, we will be ready, physically we are conditioned, we are prepared, this is what the pre-season months are for. We need to get ready and go again in a huge game and make sure we take points from it."

Birmingham took a valuable point from their Good Friday fixture with Derby County following an entertaining 2-2 draw at St Andrews, and but for a ten point deduction, they would be comfortably in the upper mid-table positions.

Monk though will be pleased with what he is seeing from his team of late, and they should well have enough in the tank in their final three fixtures to ensure they don't get dragged into the relegation mix.

The Verdict

This is always going to be good news for Birmingham, with the big striker absolutely key to the Blues and they way they play.

He'll be ideal as well in a game at Rotherham, where they'll be expected to battle and scrap their way to victory.
