David Stockdale has returned to Birmingham after his loan spell with Wycombe Wanderers was cut short after the Blues recalled the goalkeeper.

The shot-stopper made two appearances for the League One side and helped them to two wins in a successful spell.

Stockdale released a statement on his Twitter page announcing his return to Birmingham:

News of Stockdale's return will leave Birmingham fans questioning where his future lies ahead of the January transfer window.

He is yet to make an appearance for the Championship side this season and has evidently fallen out of favour under Garry Monk, with the Blues boss opting to start Lee Camp, who has made 17 appearances in the opening 19 fixtures of the campaign.

Birmingham will be looking to stay in touch with the promotion-chasing pack heading into the New Year and be hoping to build on a decent start to the Championship season.

The Verdict

Stockdale has said 'unfortunately I've been recalled by Birmingham City', which should speak volumes.

Monk has cast him out of the picture and he is evidently unhappy at his lack of game time and situation at Birmingham.

Stockdale will be keen to resolve his future as quickly as possible in order to secure regular game time.

If he can recapture the sort of form which made him a fan favourite at Brighton then he would be an excellent addition for a number of Championship clubs in January.
