Birmingham City have recovered from a disappointing start to the season, and are now making a rapid charge up the table - and that is largely due to two in-form players.

Lucas Jutkiewicz and Che Adams have formed a formidable partnership up-front for Garry Monk's side, with the pair scoring 11 times between themselves already this season.

The Blues are now unbeaten in their last ten league games and the pair's goals have played a massive part in that unbeaten run that stretches back to August, when they were defeated by Bolton Wanderers.

Monk has weighed in with his views on the strike duo that have made a remarkable start to the season for his side, who are now just four points adrift of the play-offs.

Speaking to the Birmingham Mail, Monk said: 'I thought Jukey and Che on Tuesday night were fantastic,'

'The pair of them at certain moments in that game were both unplayable. That’s what we need.'

They remain unbeaten at St Andrews this season and will be looking to continue that impressive run of form when they face Jos Luhukay's Sheffield Wednesday side who will be hoping to bounce back from a poor showing against QPR in midweek.

'They have been growing and getting stronger. That comes with understanding as well.'

'Especially Jukey he has been very consistent and I think Che is now understanding what he needs to do to complement Jukey and for Jukey to complement Che,' stated the Birmingham boss.

But Monk has set the bar high for the pair and is wanting the duo to perform to the high standards they have set, on a regular basis for the Blues this season.

"The demand is you have to do it again - and again, and again, with every single game which is difficult to do but I think they are in the right frame of mind to continue doing that together."

The Verdict:

The statistics speak for themselves on this one.

With Adams having four goals to his name, whilst Jutkiewicz has seven, Birmingham have one of the best striking partnerships in the Championship this season and Monk will be hoping that they can continue that impressive start to the season.

If they can do that, then it would come as no surprise to see Birmingham occupying a play-off spot by the end of the season.
