Middlesbrough manager Garry Monk would like to make an approach for first-choice summer target Britt Assombalonga, but the fee involved is nowhere near Nottingham Forest's value of their key starlet.

Monk should prepare a list of other targets in case this deal doesn't happen to go through, which is highly likely at this point in time, and Swansea City attacker Modou Barrow is the perfect candidate for Riverside this transfer window.

The two parties heavily know each other after the manager brought the 24 year-old to Leeds United on a six-month loan spell back in August, and both may be keen to meet each other for a second occasion.

Barrow's current club Swansea City have acquired the services of in-demand striker Tammy Abraham and that may prompt him to seek pastures new to get regular first-team football, meaning a drop to the Championship is highly likely.

His playing style is almost identical to Assombalonga as his stunning pace can be a large contribution to the overall game alongside an eye for goal, which wholeheartedly benefits the entire team.

Modou Barrow's only flaw compared to the Nottingham Forest man is his unproven talent in the Championship, which may deter Garry Monk from bringing him to Teeside this summer.

However, that is counter-acted by the Gambia international's versatility across the front line, predominantly playing as a right winger during his stint at Elland Road last term.

That is what Middlesbrough are missing, in my opinion, a forward who can bring others into the game and improve their goal scoring issues, a continuous problem they had in the Premier League - and Barrow could be the man to help resolve this issue.

Middlesbrough supporters, is Modou Barrow a suitable candidate incase Britt Assombalonga opts for Burnley? Does his style improve Garry Monk's attack? Let us get your thoughts in the comment section below!
