After 20 games Leeds United have impressed this season, sitting in 6th place only ten points away from the automatic promotion places.

Garry Monk struggled at the start of his tenure but has gone on to silence his critics by delivering some superb results for the Whites, turning them into a side certainly capable of challenging for promotion this season.

Although Leeds owner Massimo Cellino continues to cause controversy after his recent 18 month ban from the FA, Monk will be hoping that he has some funds to spend in the forthcoming January transfer to enable him to strengthen his already talented Leeds team.

Monk already has a hugely talented squad at his disposal, though a few more fresh faces could really take them to the next level and enhance their chance of promotion considerably.

So here are THREE January deals that Monk must ask Cellino to secure in January...

Marc Pugh

The AFC Bournemouth midfielder is finding opportunities difficult to come by on the South coast and he would be an excellent signing at Championship level.

Pugh was a key part of the Cherries midfield when they won promotion to the Premier League in the 2014/15 season, and the winger would strengthen the already talented midfield that Leeds United have.

The 29-year-old's ability to beat the full back and get in crosses will suit Gary Monk's brand of football perfectly, and there is no doubt that Pugh could become a key player at Elland Road.

Monk should definitely try and sign Pugh in January.

Omar Bogle

The Grimsby Town striker is quickly becoming one of the hottest prospects in the Football League this season.

Bogle is League Two's top goalscorer this season after netting 16 times in 20 appearances for the Mariners so far.

The 23-year-old's hold up play, ability to score all types of goals and be at the right place at the right time will offer something different to the Leeds attack, and he could be the man to fire them to promotion this season.

David Nugent

At Championship level, you will struggle to find a more experienced goalscorer than the 31-year-old.

His experience of promotion with both Leicester City and most recently Middlesbrough would only be beneficial for the Whites, as they look to secure a historic promotion back to the Premier League.

Although he may not start every game, Nugent's passion, knack of being at the right place at the right time and experience of playing under pressure could be exactly what Leeds could do with when it comes to the business end of the season.
