The futures of Sheffield Wednesday's Keiren Westwood and Sam Hutchinson continue to be one of the main talking points amongst the club's supporters.

Both players have struggled for consistent game time with the Owls this season, and have made 37 appearances between them so far in this year's campaign.

It had previously been reported by The Star that both players were set to be frozen out of the first team picture and would be training with the Under-23s in the future.

Speaking in a pre-match press conference ahead of their game against Birmingham City, Monk addressed those rumours, and claimed that he doesn't judge players on their past.

"I don’t judge people on what they have done in the past, I judge things on the here and now.

"I need continuity, players to be available, it’s what you do in this moment that is important. I make decisions for the good of the team."

Westwood has recently taken to social media to state that he hasn't fallen out with Monk, although questions still remain as to whether he has a future at Hillsborough.

Sheffield Wednesday are currently struggling in the Championship, and are winless in their last five games in the league, so it's understandable that some of the club's supporters are losing patience with Monk.

The Verdict:

His comments are likely to divide the Sheffield Wednesday fanbase.

Keiren Westwood and Sam Hutchinson have already shown that they can perform to a high standard at this level for the Owls, and given that Monk has said he doesn't judge players on their past, you have to question as to why the pair are being frozen out at the moment.

With Sheffield Wednesday struggling in all areas of the pitch, the Owls boss surely has to make changes to his side to turn their fortunes around this season.

If he continues to be stubborn in freezing them out of the first team picture, then I can't see Sheffield Wednesday making the play-offs.

Monk needs positive results to come in the near future, otherwise the pressure on him from the club's supporters will only get stronger.
