Sheffield Wednesday manager Garry Monk was left fuming as his side chucked away the points in Cardiff last night.

Leading for most of the game, the Owls threw away the chance at three points when Lee Tomlin tucked home a free-kick from just outside the box.

However, it was the whole scenario surrounding the free-kick which got Monk's back up, as he accused the referee of missing a blatant obstruction.

"If it had been a legitimate goal, fair enough, but I am told it wasn't even a foul for the free-kick. Then they had one of their players doing star jumps, trying to distract our keeper," Monk said, with his post-match comments taken from BBC Sport.

"How they missed that, I don't know because it's not hard to spot - a 6ft 5 inch player doing star jumps," Monk added.

Tomlin's goal ensured Cardiff remained in the hunt for the top six, albeit down in 11th place, while Wednesday did indeed move into the top six ahead of today's full Championship fixture list.

Wednesday had gone into the lead when Julian Borner diverted Kadeem Harris' shot past Neil Etheridge and into the goal.

The Verdict

Monk has reason to feel hard done to here in all honesty, and it looks the rules just haven't been followed by the referees.

However, there could be an argument made that Flint wasn't actually doing anything to really affect the period of play, giving the goal some justification at least.

Monk will simply have to park this and move on you would think, despite his clear disappointment.
