Sheffield Wednesday's recent slump in form will be hugely frustrating for both Garry Monk and the club's supporters.

The Owls previously occupied a spot in the play-offs earlier this season, but a winless run which stretches to () games has seen them slip to 12th, and nine points adrift of the top-six.

Wednesday were beaten 3-0 by Reading in their last match, and will be hoping they can pick up a much-needed three points when they return to action this weekend.

Speaking in a pre-match press conference ahead of their game against Birmingham City, Garry Monk issued a positive fitness update on full-back Morgan Fox.

"Fox has been back out on the pitches and hopefully we will see him this weekend. We still have another training tomorrow to assess things."

Fox has missed Sheffield Wednesday's last four league games through injury, and he's clearly been a big miss for the Owls, as they've not won any of the games that the defender has been absent from.

A win for the Owls could see them close the gap on their play-off chasing rivals, whereas a loss could add further pressure to Garry Monk.

The Verdict:

This will be a real boost for Sheffield Wednesday.

Fox has really impressed me this season, and if he's deemed fit enough, I'm expecting him to come straight back into the starting XI for Monk's side.

Osaze Urhoghide is suspended for the game against Birmingham City after being sent-off against Reading in their last game, so it would be the ideal time for Fox to return from injury.

It's still going to be a tough test against the Blues though, but Fox's return will be a welcome boost for Monk and his team heading into the game on Saturday.
