Sheffield Wednesday are starting to build some momentum at the ideal time, as they made it back-to-back wins after a win over promotion-chasing Leeds United last weekend.

That result came after they beat Premier League Brighton and Hove Albion in the FA Cup before the clash at Elland Road.

Garry Monk's side are now sat sixth in the Championship table, and will be keen to build on these recent impressive showings as the season progresses.

The Owls take on play-off chasing Blackburn Rovers at Hillsborough on Saturday, and will fancy their chances of keeping the pressure on the teams above them in the second tier.

Speaking in a pre-match press conference ahead of his side's game against Tony Mowbray's men on Saturday, Monk revealed that both Fernando Forestieri and Liam Palmer have returned to training.

"Fernando and Liam are back on the grass and have joined in with parts of training. Both hopefully back in full training next week. They will need a little period to get back into the full fitness side of it.

"We have no further fitness issues from the Leeds game, everyone has trained and trained well all week."

Forestieri has only made ten appearances for the Owls this season, and with the forward out of contract at the end of the season, he'll have a point to prove.

Whilst Palmer has made 19 appearances so far in this year's league campaign, and Monk could have a potential selection dilemma on his hands after the strong performances from youngster Osaze Urhoghide.

The Verdict:

This is a promising update from Monk ahead of the rest of this month.

Forestieri hasn't been at his best this season, and there will be questions asked of whether he has much of a future at Sheffield Wednesday, especially given that he is out of contract at the end of this season.

Palmer will add to the competition for places, and if Monk can keep the majority of his side fit, then the Owls will certainly be in with a shout of finishing inside the top-six in the Championship.
