Birmingham City manager Garry Monk says that he does not think the injury suffered by Harlee Dean against Sheffield Wednesday will be too serious, report the Birmingham Mail

The centre-back fell awkwardly in the first half of the clash at St. Andrew's and had to be replaced by Marc Roberts, but hopes are high that he will not be out for long.

"I don’t think in terms of Harlee’s reaction it doesn’t seem to serious," Monk said.

"Harlee fell awkwardly on his hip, he felt when he was striding to stride out he couldn’t properly.

"I haven’t spoken to the physios yet, I am hoping that’s not too serious."

Birmingham have been in terrific form over the last few weeks and currently sit eighth in the Championship table.

They have won their last four straight games against Rotherham United, Stoke City, Reading and Sheffield Wednesday.

Monk has turned the Blues from potential relegation strugglers into promotion contenders and his side are currently on an 11 match unbeaten run in the league.

Derby County are their next opponents on Saturday afternoon and they will undoubtedly be travelling to Pride Park confident of getting a result.

The Verdict

This should not be too big of a worry for Blues fans.

Yes, Dean has been terrific this season but the performance from Marc Roberts on Saturday should give them confidence that they can allow him time to heal properly.

It will be a test of Monk's management against the Rams on Saturday. A win against the high-flying Rams and they will have to be considered as promotion contenders.
