Birmingham City manager Garry Monk has had his say on former side Leeds United ahead of this weekend’s clash at St. Andrews.

He admitted that it will be a tough game against the automatic promotion chasers but remained confident of picking up another impressive result.

“Leeds are a good side,” Monk said, according to the club’s official Twitter account.

“They are pushing for promotion, it will be a tough test for us but one we are relishing.

“We have proven we can get results against the big sides and we need to do that again.”

Monk managed his weekend opponents between 2016 and 2017, taking the Whites to the cusp of the play-offs before walking away in the summer.

Leeds bounced back into the top two last weekend thanks to a 3-2 win against Millwall at Elland Road and a loss for Sheffield United against Bristol City.

Just two points separate them from the Blades, however, so they will be eager to add to their tally against the now relegation-threatened Blues.

The verdict

This looks set to be a very interesting match and will be a serious test for Leeds and Bielsa.

Birmingham have proved that they are excellent at bouncing back after a defeat and following their spirited loss to West Brom last week, they will be desperate to pick up three points.

Leeds are of course the favourites but I personally think we are about to see another shake up in the promotion race.
