Birmingham City boss Garry Monk has confirmed that Jota is fit and available for Saturday's game against Blackburn Rovers.

The talented Spaniard has missed Blues' last four games after he was forced off midway through the first-half of the 3-3 draw with Hull a month ago.

It had been hoped that Jota would be able to feature last week as Monk's men fell to a 1-0 defeat at home to Bristol City, but he was unable to make the bench.

However, the boss told the club's media that he is now ready to play at Ewood Park after taking part in full training this week with his teammates.

"Jota felt last week was a little too soon, he’s trained so far this week and had no problems whatsoever - so he should be available and involved in the squad this weekend."

In the absence of the former Brentford man, Birmingham have won twice and lost twice, with defeat at home to the Robins particularly frustrating.

It leaves the side six points behind the play-off places ahead of the busy Christmas period, with Blues set to play five games between Saturday and New Year's Day.

The Verdict

This is a big boost for Birmingham as Jota provides them with an extra bit of quality and class that they sometimes lack in the final third.

Connor Mahoney has done well at times this season but Monk will be glad that he can turn to the 27-year-old.

The games are coming thick and fast now and Jota will hope to have a big influence on the team as they look to continue their impressive season.
