Birmingham City manager Garry Monk expects this weekend's clash with Bristol City to be a tight affair.

Lee Johnson's side have been on rather erratic form all season but Monk will not be taking that for granted when they clash at St. Andrew's.

"They have had some really good results but been a little inconsistent," Monk told the club's official Twitter account.

"They will be a threat, there is no easy game in this league.

"I think it will be a tight game, fine margins will probably dictate who wins."

Birmingham currently sit in ninth place on 30 points, just four outside the top six and six ahead of Saturday's opponents, so the fans will be confident of another win.

St. Andrew's has become a fortress for the Blues this season and are yet to lose on home soil, winning four and drawing six of their 10 matches at the ground.

A win could see them close the gap on sixth-place to just one point and pull one step closer to guaranteed safety.

The Verdict

This seems like the perfect approach for Monk to do.

He is refreshingly honest in his press conferences, rarely using hyperbole or mind games, he just gives straight honest answers.

And, he is right to be wary of the Robins who could so easily thrash you as they could let you walk all over them. It is a very intriguing match.
